5 best varities of doughnuts in the world
5 best varities of doughnuts in the world

I was nine when I first got familiar with Donuts or Doughnuts. These sweet small rings had me fallen in love with them. It's just like a piece of small cake and tastes sweet. The outer layer is slightly crisp and the inside is fluffy and soft. Donuts come in different varieties and fillings. These can easily be purchased from the bakeries. It can be taken up as breakfast, snack and dessert. Eggs, milk, sugar, oil, water and leavening are the basic ingredients included in the preparation of doughnuts.

Here's a list of the top 5 different varieties of doughnuts:

5.Sprinkles

Sprinkle doughnuts, I consider the best treat for the children as they look way too colourful and yummy. For this, you just have to make the usual doughnuts and dip into the vanilla glaze.

Then, on top of it, you can add colourful sprinkles to give it a bit of crunch. Instead of glazing, you can also do icing to give it a shiny finish.

The doughnuts can either be fried or baked. The baked ones are cake-like, on the other hand, fried ones are light and fluffy.

Moreover, you can use a variety of sprinkles such as chocolate, rainbow or seasonal sprinkles.

I usually take sprinkled doughnuts with hot chocolate or milk as breakfast or an afternoon treat.

These look very appetising and delicious and are the best treat for festivals, holidays and other special occasions.

4.Plain Glazed

Plain Glazed Donuts are very scrumptious with a shiny glaze on the top and are perfect for any kind of snack, dessert or breakfast. The glaze is just made by using powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract.

We have to whisk them all, until smooth. You have to adjust the milk accordingly to achieve your desired glaze consistency.

You have to put the glaze on the top of your doughnuts when they are warm. Let them rest on the wire rack, so, that the excess glaze drips off.

The best way to set the glaze consistency is just by adding a little more milk, when it is thick and if it is thin, you should add powdered sugar.

I love pairing glazed doughnuts with tea or coffee. I will advise you to eat them fresh on the same day, however, they can be stored for a couple of days too.

3.Jelly Filled

Jelly-filled doughnuts or jelly doughnuts are soft, fluffy doughnuts with a sweet fruit filling. These doughnuts have a rich history and cultural roots in Jewish cuisine and are known as "sufganiyot", which are traditionally eaten during Hanukkah.

The basic jelly filling is made from fresh or frozen fruits. I use strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or blackberries for the inner filling.

To make it, you need to take a medium-sized saucepan to combine sugar, fruit and lemon juice. Heat the mixture at medium heat and stir it frequently. It will take about 7 to 10 minutes.

If you want thick filling, then, you can also mix cornstarch with water and create a slurry. Add it to the mixture and stir continuously for 2 to 3 minutes until it thickens. Let the feeling cold down and chill at room temperature. You can even store this filing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week or two.

You can use a piping bag to insert this feeling inside the doughnuts and after that dust them with powdered sugar. You can also add cinnamon for extra flavour.

2.Chocolate Glazed

Chocolate glazed Donuts are one of my favourite desserts. To prepare it, you should mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, baking soda and salt all together.

And, in the other small bowl, beat egg, sour cream, vanilla, milk and oil. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ones. Put the mixture into a doughnut pan, which is to be greased. Back for at least 8 minutes and cool down the doughnuts.

Chocolate glaze is the heart of this recipe so it should be prepared properly. You should use only natural cocoa powder for best results. To make it, you should whisk powdered sugar, cocoa powder or melted chocolate and milk until smooth.

Now, dip the doughnuts into the chocolate glaze or drizzle it over the doughnuts. Keep them on the rack for a few minutes to let the glaze properly settle down.

These Donuts can also be filled with cream or jam before glazing. To get an intense touch of chocolate flavour, you can also apply a layer of chocolate ganache beneath the glaze.

1. Cream Filled

Cream-filled doughnuts, also known as the Bavarian cream doughnut is typically round or rectangular. To give these doughnuts a sweet and crunchy exterior, it is suggested to roll them up in sugar.

The cream used for filling is a mixture of pastry cream and whipped cream. The pastry cream should be chilled, so, it is advised to prepare it ahead of everything and chill it in the refrigerator.

The doughnuts should be cooled before adding the filling to them. You should use the piping bag to fill the doughnuts. It is advised to insert the tip of the bag into the side of each doughnut and fill the cream inside slightly.

These can also be enjoyed with coffee or tea. I would suggest you enjoy them fresh, but you can also store them in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for only a day or two as they may lose their freshness.

You can also do experimentation by adding cocoa powder to get the chocolate cream or fruit puree to get the fruity twist. This customisation may even taste better.
